Candida albicans which is also known as monilia is actually a fungus that is generally present on the skin as well as in mucous membranes such as the mouth, rectum and vagina. In men, candidal infection can also be present in the penis but it is more common in men that are uncircumcised than it is in men that have been circumcised. When an individual has candidal infection of the penis, it could be a result of having sexual intercourse with a partner that was infected.

The symptoms of a candida yeast infection

So, what are the symptoms of Candida albicans? Normally, you will see that thrush appears as a bluish white or a creamy white patch on the tongue. The patch will normally be inflamed and there are times when it is beefy red. You will normally see thrush present on the lining of the mouth or even in the throat.

Candida also causes diaper rash which is an inflammation of the skin that is normally red and even scaly at times. Vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina or vulva walls which is known to cause itching and burning. This fungus is characterized by a yellow or white discharge.

When you have an infection of the nail, you will notice that they will appear as red and there will be painful swelling around the nail. Later on, pus can develop. When you have an infection of the penis, it can often result in balanitis which is an inflammation of the head of the penis.

When there is an infection in the bloodstream, it could affect the heart, kidneys, eyes, lungs and other organs which results in chills, fever and anemia.
