Colon Cleansing
Facts About Colon
Cleansing
Year after year after year we put mostly garbage into our
stomachs and then expect miracles by way of good health. Our body
is such a wonderful piece of machinery but to put up with garbage
for years and still come up smelling like a rose is a bit too much
to expect. Look at it practically and you will see the good sense
in cleansing the colon.
Till a couple of years ago, there was hardly any discussion
about the state of the colon. These topics were really not meant
for living room conversation. However, such taboos seem to have
faded and these issues seem to be coming out of the closet as more
and more people have become aware of how important it is to eat
healthy.
Time was when vegetables and fruits were just a small part of
the Western diet and very often, they were eaten in an unpalatable
and not very nutritious form – either overcooked or maybe doused in
syrup or dressings. The result? Digestion that was never very
good.
Eat ealthy, stay
healthy
With the focus turning to ‘eat healthy, stay healthy’, so many
are taking a new look at food and whether we really need all that
amount we stuff ourselves with. And whether what we do eat is
beneficial, or just fillers, or worse, harmful to the body.
Considering that around 80% of the nutrients we need are absorbed
through the colon, isn’t it time we gave it the attention it
needs?
If we were to follow Nature’s plan for us and ate sensibly,
there would be no need to bother about the colon. What we ate would
naturally cleanse the colon as well. Fiber, for example, would
bundle together all the remnants of the food after the nutrients
were extracted and eliminate it painlessly and naturally from the
system.
No constipation, no straining, just natural movement through the
intestine. So what fiber does is to ‘brush’ the walls of the colon
clean as it passes, leaving it spruced up and squeaky clean before
the next lot of food comes in. And we eat refined foods from which
every bit of fiber has been removed!
Resting the digestive
system
The colon needs rest too. We just cannot make it work 24/7 and
then wonder when it protests with ill health. This is where a break
from food helps. It is difficult, maybe impossible for most people
who have never fasted to stop eating and drinking completely.
Our minds are wired to expecting to eat at certain times in the
day. All you have to do is to switch to a liquid diet – water,
juices, herbal teas – so you don’t feel hungry or starved and the
colon gets washed out as well.
Many ancient cultures believe that disease is a combination of
what goes on in the gut as well as in the brain. Well, you can take
care of one part of that problem by eating healthy and by giving
your body a rest at times. That way, you expect a lot more good
health from one of the major parts of your body.
